D, Have them here too. They seem to grow on old Sweet Gum trees that were cut down. A neighbor used his stump grinder on them, but the mushrooms grew through the grass. I bet yours are feeding on some wood decaying matter too. Coyote

Yes, these are growing within the area where I had a 50 foot Water oak tree taken down. The stump was ground down to only a few inches below ground level. So far, I've "harvested about 3 grocery bags worth of these "monsters". I've been spreading Scott's fungicide lately and hope that will slow them down. They freak out everyone I've shown them to. They are tough as leather, very heavy, and have strong tentacle like roots that entangle fiercely with the grass roots.

Eat them.
